Why is Oil Casing Pipe Important

Oil casing pipe is a large-diameter pipe that is used to stabilize the oil and gas wellbore or hole. Casing pipe is inserted into the wellbore and cemented in place to help isolate the formations and prevent collapse, while also allowing for the circulation of drilling mud to facilitate drilling and production.

The grades of steel used for oil casing pipe is H40, J55, K55, N80, L80, C90, T95, P110, Q125, and V150. The end processing forms of casing pipe include short round thread, long round thread, trapezoidal thread, and special buckle, among others.

Oil casing pipe is primarily used in drilling operations and provides support to the wellbore during drilling and ensures the normal operation of the entire oil well after completion, which play a crucial role in the industry:

1. Oil casing pipe are used in large quantities and incur significant expenses. There is great potential for cost savings and cost reduction. The consumption of well pipes can be estimated based on the annual drilling footage. In China, it is generally estimated that drilling 1 meter requires 62 kg of well pipes, including 48 kg of casing, 10 kg of tubing, 3 kg of drill rod, and 0.5 kg of drill collar.

2. The mechanical and environmental behavior of oil casing pipes has a significant impact on the adoption of advanced processes and increasing production efficiency in the petroleum industry.

3. The failure and loss of oil pipes can be substantial, making their safety, reliability, and service life of critical importance in the petroleum industry.
